James G. Jones

Attorney James G. Jones is a business law attorney with over 40 years of litigation and transactional experience. Over his career, Mr. Jones has developed a distinguished reputation for his expertise in a number of practice areas, including business litigation, corporate and business transactions, securities law, commercial real estate, aviation transactions, transactional tax law, employment practices, and public agency law.

In recognition for meeting the highest possible standards of professionalism and ethics in the legal community, Mr. Jones has been rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the national directory of attorneys. Due to his extensive legal experience, Mr. Jones is a recognized leader in the California legal community. He maintains active memberships with the Los Angeles County, Ventura County, and American Bar Associations. 

Mr. Jones earned his Bachelor’s degree from Occidental College before attending Hastings College of the Law at the University of California. At Hastings, he was a Jamison Foundation Scholar and a member of the Hastings Law Journal. In 1968, Mr. Jones earned his Juris Doctor degree from Hastings.

Mr. Jones has been a member of the State Bar of California since his admission in 1969. Following admission to California, he was subsequently admitted to numerous federal courts. Mr. Jones is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Northern, and Southern Districts of California, the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Due to his wealth of business and real estate legal knowledge spanning more than four decades, Mr. Jones also serves as an expert witness in cases involving the standard of care for attorneys in business transactions, business litigation, and real estate transactions. In his free time, Mr. Jones regularly performs community service. He is also an avid scuba diver and tennis player.
